The elevated plus maze test is an experiment used to assess the emotional state and anxiety levels of mice or rats. The maze is in the shape of a cross, with two arms closed and two open. The animals were placed in the maze and their movements between the open and closed arms were recorded. Animals with higher anxiety levels were more likely to stay in the closed arm, while animals with lower anxiety levels were more likely to explore the open arm. By analyzing the time an animal spends in different areas, its emotional state can be inferred. The elevated plus maze test is widely used in drug screening and behavioral model research.
