Epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a cellular process during which epithelial cells acquire mesenchymal phenotypes and behaviour ( lose cell polarity and cell–cell adhesion, and gain migratory and invasive properties) , thereby following the downregulation of epithelial features.

上皮至间质转化 (EMT) 是一个细胞内的生物学过程，在此过程中上皮细胞获得间充质表型和行为（失去细胞极性和细胞-细胞粘附，并获得迁移和侵袭特性），从而减弱上皮特征。
