Lucimycin (FI 1163) is a bioactive molecule with antifungal activity. Lucimycin is used medically to inhibit non-healing wounds and is often used in combination with wax cicada maggots to clean wounds. The lucimycin gene was first identified in L. sericata larvae in Turkey, demonstrating its potential as a biological asset.
