It is a salt with cationic properties and thus useful in various industrial and biomedical applications. Decyltrimethylammonium chloride is commonly used as a surfactant, emulsifier and disinfectant in personal care products, detergents, textiles and pharmaceutical formulations. It is also used as a phase transfer catalyst in organic synthesis reactions, which involves facilitating the movement of reactants between immiscible phases.
