HGF protein is a potent hepatocyte mitogen that stimulates mature hepatocyte proliferation and exhibits multiple growth factor properties in different tissues. As a ligand of MET receptor tyrosine kinase, HGF initiates downstream signaling cascades upon binding, activating MAPK signaling after TMPRSS13 cleavage.
