Transmission Electron Microscopy is used to form high-resolution images by transmitting an electron beam through a sample, locating target proteins inside cells. It can be used for purified molecules (detecting interactions without staining) or tissues/cells. Tissue sections are incubated with highly specific antibodies conjugated to heavy metals (such as gold) before microscopic analysis, followed by molecular co-localization analysis via electron microscopy.
