Isocarbophos (Optunal) is an organophosphorus pesticide from the phosphoramidate family, commonly employed to manage chewing and sucking insects as well as spider mites on crops such as cotton, rice, fruit trees, and vegetables. As a powerful acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitor, it activates through both contact and ingestion, disrupting the hydrolysis of acetylcholine and leading to hyperexcitation.
