Abstract

Styraxtokisans A - G (1-7), including six enantiomeric pairs of undescribed Lignans (1, 2, 4-7) and a pair of undescribed Phenylpropanoids (3), were isolated from the ethanol extract of the resin Styrax tonkinensis. Comprehensive spectroscopic and computational studies, along with the advanced chemical separation techniques, enabled the confirmation of the structures of these new compounds. The enantiomers of the racemates (1-7) were separated using chiral HPLC. The biological evaluation of these isolates towards anti-renal fibrosis demonstrated that compound 1b could effectively reduce the protein expression levels of fibronectin, collagen I and α-SMA in TGF-β1-induced NRK-52e cells.
