Acts upstream of or within negative regulation of stem cell differentiation. Part of nuclear cyclin-dependent protein kinase holoenzyme complex. Is expressed in several structures, including brain; future brain; primitive streak; trophectoderm; and unsegmented mesenchyme. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in congenital heart defects, dysmorphic facial features, and intellectual developmental disorder. Orthologous to human CDK13 (cyclin dependent kinase 13).
