Poneratoxin is the modulator for voltage-gated sodium channel (NaV, EC50 for NaV1.6 and NaV1.6 is 97 nM and 2.3 µM), that lowers the voltage threshold for activation and inhibits the inactivation of channels, enhances the excitability of neurons, and leads to the transmission of pain signals[1].

(In Vivo)

Poneratoxin 在 C57BL/6 J 小鼠模型中引起立即和持久的伤害行为 (20 至 600 pmol，足底注射，单剂量)，并在苍蝇模型中导致麻痹，PD50 (1 h) 为 74.3 nmol /g (0-100 nmol/g，腹腔注射，单剂量)[1]。
