Phospholipids  (磷脂)

Phospholipids are amphiphilic and versatile molecules, which consist of a hydrophilic headgroup and a lipophilic/hydrophobic tail. Phospholipids are the main components in cellular membranes and arranged as a lipid bilayer. Phospholipids play a significant role in the structure and functionality of biological membranes.

Due to their physiological roles, phospholipids possess a very low toxicity profile and can be used for the formation of liposomes. Indeed, phospholipids assist the formation of different supramolecular assemblies that strongly affect the colloidal stability of lipoplexes by promoting their interaction with cell membranes.
